I know you've heard it before. We all have at some point in our lives.
It whispers from the magazine racks that you are not thin enough, not pretty enough.
It whispers from the grade cards in school that you are not smart enough.
It whispers from the sidelines of the sports games that you are not athletic enough to get chosen on a team.
It whispers from the play auditions, the music auditions, that you were not gifted enough to land a spot in the group.
And it attacks you from every side with its deadly whisper that....you are just not good enough.
But the thing you never knew about this whisper?
Not once has this whisper ever told you the truth.
Not when it convinced you that you weren't as pretty or thin as all the other girls. Not when it convinced you that your grades weren't as good as they should be and you weren't smart enough to ever get them higher. Not when it tugged on you that you weren't athletic enough to get picked for the team and not when it whispered that if you were only more gifted you would've been chosen for that acting role or that band. And especially not when it wrapped its deadly lies around your mind to convince you that no matter what you do, you just aren't good enough.
Not one of those things was the truth. It was all lies.
The devil likes to plant little whispers of lies in our minds to cloud our true vision. You know why? Because if we believed the truth, he wouldn't be able to stop us from becoming all of what God created us to be.
If you believed that you weren't pretty enough compared to everyone else, then you wouldn't be able to walk in the confidence that you are the gorgeous, priceless princess of the King.
If you believed that one rejection defined you as not good enough for anything or anyone else, then you wouldn't have the courage to keep going and being all who God wants you to be.
So, dear princess, here's a little bit of truth for your Monday.
You are enough.
Not because of what you've done or not done.
But because of all that He's done for you.
The blood of Jesus was enough. His love is enough. And when it covers you, He makes you enough too. He fills you with enough of His love and grace to do exactly what He has planned for you in this world.
So next time that old devil whispers at you with those lies that you're not good enough? You tell him about the One who is enough in you.
And then you go walk in that truth.
